Why do we need to develop the social maturity we grow up

Social maturity is what enables us to function as healthy adults. Without it, we end up having a difficult time ourselves, or causing a lot of difficult times for other people. ... Children are by definition, socially immature, and nobody wants them to stay that way as they grow into adults.
