Why do we need to locate placed?

The earth is three dimensional , having thousands of places including cities. In order to reach to a particual destination we need its address most probably the coordinates to reach there

If we have to go to a place for example Gandhinagar and if we don't the actual address of the place then we cant reach our destination but if we know the longitude and latitude of the place then itwill be easy for us to find the place.
