salt has two parents : an acid and a base.
when taken the example of ZnSo4
it has two parents ZnOH and H2So4
ie, the reaction is
ZnOH + H2So4 = ZnSo4 + H20
but, when we consider ZnO, it doesnt have two parents, ie it is not a compound formed when an acid and base reacts.
therefore we consider metal sulphides as salts..
