Why do we not use the term maize fruit and maize seed? What do we say instead?

Maize is actually a fruit in which the fruit wall and seed coat are fused together to form a protective layer.. therefore we call such fruit are grains

We should not use the term maize fruit and maize seed instead the term maize grain should be used for the two. The maize grain is obtained from corn plant (Zea maize). It is a cereal crop. Therefore, the fruit produced by the cereal crops is called as grain. Hence, grain is the correct term.
