We paint the iron objects to prevent it from rusting.

  • The pure iron reacts with the water and oxygen and forms the substance called an iron oxide and that is rust. Rusting weakens the strength of the objects.

Fe + O_{2} + H_{2} O >> Fe(OH)_{3} .

  • So to prevent the formation of the rust we paint the iron objects to break the connection of the iron with oxygen and water present in the atmosphere and that protects the object.
