why do we prefer a convex mirror a rear view in vehicles

sghazal: Thus, we require a mirror which gives us a wider view of the vehiclesbehind us. ... This is because aconvex mirror forms a highly-diminished image, thus making the traffic look much smaller. As a result,we can see a large number ofvehicles in a very smallmirror

A convex mirror is used as a rear -view mirror in vehicles because :
1. the image formed is always erect.
2. the image formed is always small.
3. it covers the rear view to the full extent.
