Earthworms are known as farmer’s friends because the loosen the soil by burrowing deep into it .This is equal to tilling of soil.
Secondly,Earth warms consume animal and plant waste and release organic matter as it’s excreta. this
excreta of earthworms increases soil fertility.It improves water holding capacity of the soil. The process of using worms to decompose animal and plant wastes is called as vermicomposting.
