Why do we see a rainbow ? Explain with the help of a diagram​

Answer:

It is formed due to dispersion of sunlight through water droplets. Water droplets act as small prism through which sunlight enters it refracts and disperses and then gets reflected internally which creates a rainbow in the sky which is seen to observer's eye.

We see a rainbow because of geometry of raindrops. when the aun shines from behind us into the rain,the incident ray of light enter the drop and are retracted inwards. They are reflected from the back surface of raindrop and refracted again as they exit the raindrop and return to our eyes.
