Why do we see a rainbow in the sky only after rainfall?​

Because the tiny droplets of rain , which us water act as a prism . Whenever the light passes through a prism it scatters the light into a band of 7 colours

In our case the raindrops scatter the sunlight into band of 7 colours. Due to which we see a rainbow forming
