Hey, mate here is your answer✌✌》》

The moon’s entire surface will receive sunlight, but only half of the moon is illuminated at any given time. As the moon revolves around the earth, it simultaneously makes one revolution on it’s own axis: Its orbital period equals it’s rotational period. This is call being tidally bound, and results in one side of the moon always facing the Earth. During the orbit, the moon goes through phases, New, 1st Quarter, Full and Last Quarter. The sun lights up the different halves of the moon during each orbit, and this can be observed by noting these phases.

Or

Only one side of the Moon is visible from Earth because the Moon rotates on its axis at the same rate that the Moon orbits the Earth – a situation known as synchronous rotation, or tidal locking. The Moon is directly illuminated by the Sun, and the cyclically varying viewing conditions cause the lunar phases.

Hope this answer will help you..《《
