Ans: Among different components of mixture there are many substanceswhich are harmful or not useful for us. To remove these harmful or unuseful components we need to separatethem. For example: (a) Tea leaves areseparated from the liquid with a strainer while preparing tea.

In a mixture there are two or more substances mixed. Separation of these substances are important so that all the substances can be used individually. There are different methods which is used to separate substances. For example, handpicking, threshing, filtration, sedimentation, winnowing, etc.
