Let's take a decimal number for example…

35.269 , which is read as Thirty five point two six nine.

Reason is the place value of the digits. Here, if we read decimal part as two hundred sixty nine.. that explains, 2 is in hundred’s place, 6 is in ten’s place & 9 is in unit’s place. But it is WRONG

After decimal point, the first place is tenth then hundredth, thousandth……..so on.

So it would be rather appropriate to read 2tenth, 6hundredth,9 thousandth….

But since we know the places, & its place values… So we need not mention it precisely..

And it's read as point two six nine.

Where as integral part is, ‘3tens’ makes it thirty & ‘5 ones’ makes it 5. So it's read as thirty five
