We store food stuff in plastic containor instead of metal container because metal container are good conductors of heat and they conduct the atmospheric heat of sun and hence they warm up the contents in them, while plastic containers are bad conductors of heat. Therefore plastic containers keeps the food stuffs cold longer than metal container and keeps them edible and fresh for a longer time than metal containers. Henceforth we prefer to store food stuff in plastic containor instead of metal container

Because plastic container are cheap, recyclable, bad conductor of heat (so heat escapes food at a very low rate) and they dont need extra coating to avoid deflavouring food (metals containers need a special coating inside to avoid them being dissolved in food and change its taste)
AND ALSO
METAL CONTAINER also react with food stuff like pickle and jams which are acidic compounds but, plastic do not react.
