silver chloride decomposes by the action of sunlight to chlorine gas and silver. this silver formed is of microscopic and turns blackis grey in colour. hence we loose the use of silver chloride.

if preserved in dark bottles in reduces or negates exposure to the sun which prevents such decomposition.

hope it helps.

Answer:

TO PREVENT DECOMPOSITION

Explanation:

Dark coloured bottles interrupt the path of light such that light cannot reach the silver chloride in the bottles and hence its decomposition is prevented. It is known that silver chloride decomposes in the presence of light into silver metal and chlorine gas.
