Sodium is a very reactive metal. To prevent it from comng company n contact with air i.e. oxygen and moisture, it is been stored in kerosene...

sodium is more reactive metal . it kept or store in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture .being more reactive, when it come in contact with air it produces lot of heat .
it actually forms sodium hydroxide with the reaction of moisture and sodium which is highly exothermic reaction which produces lot of heat.
hence due to overall upper reason it kept in kerosene
