Why do we taste food sweeter after chewing it for long time

As the enzymes in saliva break down the starch into glucose sugar.

Starch is a molecule that plants produce to store sugar.

Starch does not taste sweet, though maltose and glucose taste sweet, so as you eat the food it will gradually become somewhat sweet.
