AVERAGES are a single value which summarises the characteristic of the data.

Limitations:

  • Since different countries have different population thus total income doesn't tell us what an average person is likely to earn in that case we use averages.

  • AVERAGES are sometimes influenced by extreme values.

  • They don't give us idea about individual level or standard of living
