1st of all plastic is never used to store chemicals . Glass is used to store chemicals.
Water is stored in plastic container as:
1. plastic is cheap.
2. it is easily available.
3. water cannot be stored in metal containers as it will get heated up in hot season and with make the water hot. thats why plastic is preferred over metal
