We use glycerine in temporary mount of the material because

(a) it avoids drying of materials.

(b) it provides the medium for floating the material.

(c) it increases the beauty.

(d) it increases the clarity of material.

In the experiment glycerine is used in the temporary Mount to keep it wet . It prevents the material from drying thus keeping it wet. While carrying out the onion peel experiment or cheek experiment, glycerin is an important component which gives pretty clear reading while keeping it wet.
