When the plant cell is placed in hypertonic solution, the cell shrinks and the content of the cell moves away from the cell wall. This phenomenon is called plasmolysis. To deplasmolysis we move the cell to hypotonic solution. In hypotonic solution the cell swell. Hypotonic solution is very diluted. The water move from higher concentration to lower concentration. The surrounding has higher concentration of water and the cell has lower concentration of water. The water moves from outside the cell to inside and the cell swell. The cell wall is turgid and prevents the cell from bursting due to pressure in the cell wall.
