when a part of leaf is enclosed in a test tube containing KOH soaked cotton, Potassium hydroxide absorbs carbon dioxide, so the leaf sealed inside the glass container is in air without carbon dioxide. Without carbon dioxide, process of photosynthesis cannot take place
