why do we use mercury in the thermometer ?can water be used instead of mercury?what are the problems in using it​

We use only mercury as thermometric liquid instead of water because :- 1) Mercury has high boiling point than water means it can show temperature by absorbing less amount of heat. 2) Mercury is lustrous in nature but water doesn't have lusture.It is nessecary because while reading the temperature it shines and it helps in better reading.
