we use simple present tense to write the universal truth because it is the truth of our life and it will be also truth forever.
The simple present tense is used in the sentences that is always habitual or is a universal truth.
In the other forms if we use the universal truth, like the past tense it will mean that it was truth before but now its not truth.
So in order to show it is a universal truth we use the simple present tense.
