globe is divided into timezones based upon the Greenwich meridian, which is the initial longitude and the starting reference for all the time zones
all the timezones function in accordance to the Greenwich meridian.
for example
India is ahead of Greenwich meridian so the time at Greenwich + some quantity of time ( based upon indian longitude w.r.t Greenwich)
puts India ahead interms of time from the west
similarly USA reduces some time cause it's on the other direction to Greenwich
all the timezones function in accordance to the Greenwich meridian.
