Woollen clothes protect us from cold because wool is a poor conductor of heat and does not allow the heat trapped within the fabric to escape outside.

Wool is also a good insulator preventing heat from escaping. It is an animal fibre made up of protein. Woollen clothes are usually made from the wool obtained from sheep. It is quite durable and because of its properties which help to conserve body heat, it is used by people in cold climates.
