Sericulture industry deals with obtaining silk from the silkworm. There are a series of events that are performed starting from egg hatching to extracting silk and reeling. The different events are performed using certain types of chemicals that are considered as very much harmful. These chemicals are used in different stages of sericulture.

1. Rearing stage is the initial stage of sericulture that involves Carbon Monoxide production. This Chemical can lead to numerous respiratory problems and allergies. One of the leading causes is the practice of rearing without proper ventilation systems.

2. Unfavorable conditions – This is another cause that leads to respiration related problems. The process of sericulture should be performed under hygienic conditions. The silkworms are also easily affected by different types of diseases under unhygienic conditions.

3. Formalin use – Another major chemical that is used for sericulture is formalin. It is a type of disinfectant and can also lead to nasal irritation and damage your eye permanently. This chemical can damage some of the most vital organs in our body.
