We apply paint on iron articles so that they can be prevented from rusting.

• When iron reacts with air in the presence of moisture, its oxide is formed which leads to a reddish brown rusting or corrosion of the iron.
• The reaction of iron with air and moisture is a redox reaction.
• To prevent iron articles from rusting, we apply a coating of paint of it so that the iron underneath does not come in contact with air or moisture.
