The Earth rotates on it's axis in the opposite direction, making the sun appear to move across the sky from east to west. And the Sun actually does move. It is orbiting the Super Massive Black Hole at the centre of the galaxy and bobbing up and down all the while; constantly plunging through the galactic plane. One complete orbit of takes about 230 million Earth years and is known as a cosmic year.
