our brain senses the smell from long time but when someone comes near us the other person will smell but our brain knows the smell so we stop smelling it.

our brain gets used to the smell of the perfume after sometime and it becomes the part of the environment in which we are at the moment , but the other person approaching us will still perceive it because it is new to him/her. After sometime the person will get used to that smell and would eventually stop getting its smell again.
