The reason for his/her curiosity to know about public poll is indirectly related to next elections. The representative will try to get whether his policies are liked by people or not. This ensures the responsiveness. Thus he/she will be accountable to people. If people like that policy surely he will get major votes in next elections. But if people do not like his policy, then he must have to change it in order to make mass mobilisation of votes and to win elections.
