During monsoon, Thiruvananthapuram enjoys a good rain. The highlands are covered by dense forests of around 500 sq. km, which helps greatly in getting rains.
During summer, the greenery helps in keeping the temperature down. The recorded highest temperature is 38.0°C and the average during summer is around 30°C. But the summer season can be uncomfortable because of the high humidity caused by the Arabian Sea.
During winter, the Arabian Sea keeps the temperature from falling down. The recorded lowest temperature is 16°C and the average during winter is around 22°C.
