Fishing and pearl hunting was the main occupation of the tribal men before coming of the Union because they will not do all the occupations which were later introduced by the Union.

Explanation:

The tribal men of the area were doing the job and the occupations which they had been doing since their ancestors had done the same. They did some farming but mist of their income came from fishing and pearl hunting.

Fishes and other sea creatures were a source of food for them and pearl could be sold in the market at a good price. But, with the coming of the Union, the pearl industry was taken over by them and hence these tribal men were forced to employ themselves in different occupations which were introduced by the Union.
