Why do you think flood are most frequent in North India than in South India

Floods are more common in india because

1)Water bodies specially fresh water is more or is in abundant in north india ex. Ganga, yamuna etc.

2)As north india lies below or in the foothills of himalayas, this sometimes leads to melting of these mountains and glaciers.
