why do you think in the standard form ax²+bx+c=0, "a" must not be equal to zero?

Answer:

Because, if a=0 then in the figure ax² , the answer of this figure(ax²) will be also 0.

Here we go for being clearer:

if a=0

then, ax²= 0.x²= 0

It is because, when 0 is multiplied by another number, the answer –always– will be

nothing but 0.
