Indo Gangetic plains refer to the floodplains in the northern India along the bank of one of India's biggest river Ganga.
1. Plains are the most densly populated regions because infrastructural development is quite cheap in these areas compared to other domains of the Earth.
2. Plains have the direct advantage of best geographical features suitable for agricultural, industrial and other development.
3. Indo Gangetic plains offer best climatic conditions with sufficient availability of water for the huge population due to the Ganga river.
4. It is also very easy to develop strong and efficient communication system including networks, rails, roads, post services and pthereans of communication.
5. Due to availability of such basic prequisite requirements, the scope of development in these areas is evergreen and it also leads to development of tertiary sector.
Hence the combined benefits of these features attracts huge masses from the nearby places and makes it densely populated.
