Why do you think modern cities donot build fort walls of old kind?​

I guess the answer is an easy one. Old cities did build walls around the city for defence. At that time armies would attack with soldiers on foot or on horses, use arrows to attack from far and battering rams or catapults to attack the walls. It was easy to defend the city for the defending army, standing on the walls and fighting back. The walls also protected the civilians living in the city.

Modern warfare has changed greatly, just look at pictures from the WWII or more recent pictures from Syria. No wall can keep back missiles or airplanes, so building them would be absolutly redundant. Plus, walls always were a hinderance when cities were growing and so often there were people living inside the walls and others outside.
