In order to understand the nature of retaliation towards provocation by another party, one must be aware of the causes and consequences of such acts, starting from what they mean.

Basically, provocation refers to conducting any acts, which purposefully incites other people, making them angry or frustrated. This act of provocation is usually done on purpose, and it is done to trigger another person into retaliating.

For instance, deliberately commenting on someones sexual preference, or religion of choice, or their community and or color, is one of the basic ways of triggering other people.

When a person is triggered he usually acts out. However, the charges of provocation aren't enough to justify the retaliation on another persons account. For instance, someone bullies you constantly and provokes you into doing something wrong, and you end up committing a serious crime, then you'll be at the stand facing criminal charges.

In my opinion, retaliation isn't justifiable for all types and kinds of provocation. It depends on the time, place, and type of provocation. It all depends on people how they handle it. How they choose their words or their actions in response to getting provoked. Sometimes people should let it go, while at other times, its better to stand ones ground and face the accusations or cat callings, head on so that it doesn't happen in the future.

Answer:

Yes, retaliation is not a proper response to a provocation.

Explanation:

Provocation means act of trying to infuse anger and frustration in other person while retaliation means to respond in violent or similar way in response to an attack. It is true that retaliation is not a proper response to provocation as provocation is with purpose.

Any person who will provoke you might have a purpose which has negative impact. Hence, it is not good to respond any provocation. Retaliation may result into harm to oneself. Provocation is not crime but yes, retaliation may result into crime. Hence, it always better to avoid provocation.
