The following are the reasons of why the soil grows inside the soil -

1. Because of the direction of gravity. Since gravity acts always inwards, so roots also grows inside the soil as roots are considered as +vely geotropism.

2. The roots need water as well as nutrients. So to get these substances they move inside the soil.
