The rules which are increasing evil practices in society and do not help in the development and betterment of the society should be improved . E g = like dowry custom was prevalent but now if the society will have the rules of giving and taking dowry custom then it will be considered as a bad custom. so it should be improved.

Because social rules reflect society, and society constantly changes. For example, my mother is horrified that my son and son in law wear ball caps in the house, an old social rule made that tabu. At o e time men wore hats to church and took them off, women wore hats to church and left them on.
Women gathered in the kitchen to prepare the meal, men watched ‘the game.’ For our household everyone is on their own because I'm not missing the game.
Some social rules are basic courtesy and stand the test of time, some morph, and rightly so.
