Why do you think the Amazon basin has a low density of population

The equator passes form nothern part of Brazil and Amazon River basin also in the northern part. Hence the region receives perpendicular sunrays through out the year and the annual average rainfall is more than 1000mm due to heavy rainfall and high temperature it is not comfortable for human therefore population of density in Amazon river basin is low
