The marginalised groups have faced social and religious discrimination for a long time in our country's history; this has left them behind both in terms of education as well as employment. It is, therefore, very important to bring them into the mainstream of society by providing constitutional safeguards. In a modern society, a level playing field in the areas of education and employment ought to be created for everyone, irrespective of the individual's caste, creed or colour.
