In Stone Age and In Egyptian Times as well as In Harappan Times, Dead were buried along goods as the people used to believe in after life. They thought that providing them various sources such as food and vases will help them in the journey of their afterlife.

the early people especially the egyptians believed that the pharaoh(king) will live another life somewhere and have a second life.so they bury their needs and even the servants who served the king thinking and wishing that they would live the same happy life there.
