why do you think the map makers placed their own country in the middle of the map?

This was happened at the time of suberians and babylonians.

Actually at those times they dont know about the others countries,and about the locations etc....so they thought that the place where they are living was at the center and they even thought that their country's bigger than others so they placed their countries in the middle.Even in the geocentric theory they thought that earth's i the middle but when the scholar copernicus proposed his heliocentric theory people came to know that sun is in the middle.
