The nightingale lost her appeal to the masses because she in stead of relying her own innate talent of singing, relied more on the pedantic advice of the frog. As long as she sang her own original songs untampered and vitiated by the cunning frog, her songs were admired by the masses. The frog's ill training had its effects on her singing and general disposition. She lost her natural cheerfulness and confidence leading to her sadness and melancholy. Sad songs sung by her resulted in her downfall, and finally to her death.
