hey! ❤❤

President of India is called the Nominal head because -

  • He is the figure head, all the decisions are on his names but the real powers are with the Prime Minister.
  • He is bound to act on the advice of the council of ministers. If the president does not wish to accept any advice he may refer it back to the council of ministers. But when the bill comes to him for a second time, he is bound to give his assent to the bill.
  • Power of the President are also not absolute. President can only declare a state of emergency only on advice of council of minister.
  • When an ordinance is issued by the president , it has to approved by the parliament in 6 weeks failing which the ordinance becomes null and void.

kusumlatasharma489: the question is asking why president exercise minimal power not his power or functions

The president of India exercises minimal power because the Indian president does not have its council of members ot govern the country.

The is not elected by the people of the country to govern themselves.

If we will give the power in the hand of the president their is a high risk of him to turm into a dictator and he is the only authority to form laws

He is elected by the assmbly member and not by the people of the country.

Their is no such law that the president needs to be of the ruling party or the party elected by the people of the country. He is elected by the assembly members and can be of any party.
