Why do you think they are grasses?
Answers
Answer:
Grass plants develop fruit called grain which feed much of the world and yet have green leaves and stems not digestible for humans that are the main food source for animals. Grasses can also be used for building materials, medicines, and biomass fuels.

This answer is a literal version of the saying, The grass is always greener on the other side.
As a kid I used to sit on a hillside once a week while visiting with my father. The grass was short, sparse and brown where I sat to watch a scene I thought of as a painting. At the bottom of the opposite hill was a copse of peaceful trees in a sea of soft, grassy magic. The scene was so perfect and park-like, that I was sure it really was.
So instead of sitting there waiting ages for dad to get back from talking to people, I ran down the hill towards those trees with their puffy tops and calm flat grasses.
The grass was chest high, sharp and scratchy, forbidding any approach by the likes of me and not anywhere near as green and inviting as it looked from high on the hill.
I never did make it to the copse and the climb back was painful.
