Why do you think we say a pitcher plant is both an autotroph and a heterotroph

✅Pitcher Plant (Venus fly trap) has both autotrophic and heterotrophic mode of nutrition.

✅They can prepare their own food like any other plant. It feeds on insects too. 
 
✅Pitcher plant is an insectivorous plant. Its leaves are modified into pitcher with a lid.

✅Pitcher plant traps and feeds on insects. Pitcher is a structure that is the modified part of the leaves.

✅Inside pitcher, there are hairs which are directed downwards.

✅It helps to trap the insect in the plant. It traps an insect with its pitcher and the lid closes and the trapped insect gets entangled into the hair present in the inner side of pitcher.

✅The insect is digested by the digestive juices secreted by the pitcher.
