Why do you think zygote is dormant for sometime in a fertilised ovule?

dormancy -- A period of suspended growth and metabolic activity. Many plants, seeds, spores, and some invertebrates become dormant during unfavorable conditions.

seed is also in a state of dormancy.

. Zygote needs nutrition to develop into embryo .

. Hence until endosperm formed , it will be in dormant condition for sometime.
