why does a big ship made with iron floats on water but not a coin???

It's about buoyancy. The mass of water displaced by a ship is equal to mass of ship. If you melt the coin and shape it into a boat, it will float.

the big ship will floats because of the hollow space inside the ship whereas coin has no space
