Why does a bullet fired against a glass windowpane make a hole in it but a stone striking the same glass will smash it?

it is because the bullet has small surface area and more force due to which it exerts more pressure as compared to stone it has more surface area and it will exert less pressure

As we know that, Velocity of the Bullets is more than the Velocity of Stone.
Initially, the entire glass is in a state of rest.
When a bullet strikes the glass pane the part of the glass pane which comes in contact with the bullet immediately share the large velocity of the bullet and flies away making a hole.
The remaining part of the glass, due to inertia of rest remains at rest and is not cracked.
